Activity with children with learning disabilities - Nitzan Onim, Kfar Saba
Musical director: Naomi Faran
Pianist: Rani Golan
In 2008 Moran contacted the Kfar Saba branch of the Nitzan Association for Adults and Children with Learning Disabilities; the branch operates the Nitzan Onim Institute, directed by Rachel Regev. The institute provides a rehabilitative and therapeutic framework for young people in the 18-25 age group with learning disabilities and problems related to adaptation and functioning.
The institute aims to enable trainees with cognitive coping, motor and social difficulties to live meaningful and satisfying lives within the community. A group of some 20 such youngsters sing as a choir on a regular basis. A singing connection between the Moran Singers Ensemble and Nitzan Onim youngsters results in partnership, self-esteem, a sense of common achievement and represents another step towards integrating into the community.
