The Moran Choirs
Moran Youth Choir - ages 8-11
Musical Director: Naomi Faran
Conductor: Sharon Ram
Pianist: Arnon Zimra
This choir constitutes a preparatory stage for future Moran Choir singers. Members receive in-depth musical education towards quality singing performance. At weekly rehearsals children experience singing in groups and as soloists. They are also taught acting, movement and how to produce a small opera in which they perform both as a choir and as soloists. The operas used are The Clocks Opera by Ira Belotserkovsky and Teddy Bear Shoe Shine by Rani Golan (set to a text by Lea Goldberg).
In 2009 the Moran Youth Choir played the roles of the church children in Puccini’s Tosca in a performance by the Israeli Opera conducted by Daniel Oren. The children’s performance earned many accolades.
During the 2008-2009 season the young choir took part in the production of a CD of children’s songs by composer Rani Golan set to texts by prominent poets.
Throughout the year the choir works in collaboration with the Tze’adim (Steps) School of Dance and Performing Arts in Kfar Saba, under the direction of Adi-Chen Dgani. The children are also partners in community activities and hold joint activities with at-risk children resident at Tokayer Boarding School on Kibbutz Bachan.
